Known Limitations

Welcome to the Dark v1.0.1

This page documents known issues, limitations, and expected behaviours in the current release. It is updated with each version.

Color accuracy in Advanced Mode

At non-default hue rotation, contrast, or brightness values, the counter-filter applied to overridden or excepted elements is mathematically approximate. Colors may carry a slight residual cast. Most noticeable at extreme contrast or brightness settings.

Since v1.0.1

Ignore targets background container

When marking an element as ignored, WTTD walks up the DOM to find the nearest ancestor with a background colour and applies the exception there. This means the exception covers the container, not the specific child element clicked. Text and background are handled together.

Since v1.0.1

Panel counter-filter drift during slider drag

When the Advanced Options panel is open and the hue, contrast, or brightness sliders are adjusted via the popup, the panel's own colour correction does not update in real time during dragging — only after the slider is released. The panel may appear slightly off-colour while dragging.

Since v1.0.1

Deleting a CSS override also removes its exception

When a saved CSS override is deleted, its automatically-generated exception entry is removed too, even if that exception was also added manually. Workaround: re-add the exception manually after deleting the override.

Since v1.0.1

iCloud sync not yet available

Syncing rules and settings across devices requires a paid Apple Developer account. This feature is planned for a future release.

Since v1.0.0

iOS not yet tested

The extension is built for both macOS and iOS but has only been tested on macOS Safari. iOS behaviour may vary.

Since v1.0.0

Not available on restricted URLs

Advanced Options and Basic mode cannot be used on Safari internal pages (about:, Safari preferences, etc.).

Since v1.0.0

Extension icon appears square in circular frame

Safari displays extension icons in a circular button. The current icon is square with no padding, which may look slightly clipped. A padded version is planned.

Since v1.0.0

Tab refresh required after backup import

After importing a backup file, already-open tabs require being switched to (or manually refreshed) to apply the new settings. Tabs opened after import load correctly without a refresh.

Since v1.0.0
